The short answer

In Queensland, kerbside lids are red (general waste), yellow (recycling) and green (garden organics). E-waste goes to a drop-off point, never a kerbside bin. Drink containers earn 10c through Containers for Change since November 2018. Some QLD supermarkets host a soft-plastics bin; check before you drive. Household chemicals go through your council.

Container refund Containers for Change · 10c Running since November 2018. Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard drink containers from 150ml to 3L, run by Container Exchange. Glass wine and pure spirit bottles were added on 1 November 2023.
